Robert G. Jones, Attorney At Law

Bob Jones, a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, has practiced law since 1974. He went to college at Davidson and has graduate degrees from Yale and Duke. He is a former Mayor of Virginia Beach, and is past chairman of the Virginia Beach Economic Development Authority. He is a former member of the Board of Governors for senior attorneys of the Virginia State Bar. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. He has served on the board of a number of community organizations and is past Chairman of the Virginia Beach Historic Homes Foundation. With a background of trial work and business law as well as wills, trusts and corporations, Bob is now retired from the practice of law and no longer provides any legal services to clients. We are grateful that he is still involved in the day-to-day business of this law firm.

Susan S. Walker, Attorney At Law

Susan Walker graduated from the University of Virginia, where she was both a Jefferson Scholar and an Echols Scholar. She studied law at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary where she competed in appellate advocacy and went on to excel in a national competition. Starting her practice of law as a generalist with a wide variety of cases and trials, she now devotes her talents and skills to the very sizable real estate practice she manages. She is the immediate past Chair of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. She is a member of the Tidewater Regional Selection Committee and National Selection Committee for high school seniors competing for Jefferson Scholarships to the University of Virginia.

P. Austen Lake, Attorney At Law

Austen Lake graduated from Lee University, summa cum laude, with a BA in Sociology. He studied law at Regent University School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2011. While at Regent, he served as Senior Editor on the Regent University Law Review, and as a member of the Honor Council. He was also awarded several merit-based scholarships and selected to be a Blackstone Fellow by Alliance Defending Freedom. While concentrating his practice on Landlord/Tenant matters, Austen also assists clients in residential and commercial real estate, small business representation, and civil litigation. He is an affiliate member of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers, and of the Hampton Roads Realtors Association Property Management & Leasing Council. He is licensed to practice before all Virginia State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Kimberly Dailey Shepherd, Attorney At Law

Kim Shepherd, a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, graduated from First Colonial High School and the College of William and Mary. She was president in college of her sorority and led the student organized Direct Marketing of Williamsburg. She earned her law degree from George Mason University, where she wrote for the Independent Law Review, received several awards in competitions for the Moot Court team, and led the Women’s Law Association. Her legal career began as law clerk for the Honorable Richard B. Kellam in the United States District Court in Norfolk. She then served as Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and later entered private law practice as a trial lawyer. She represented clients in many cases in all the courts in Hampton Roads. Kim joined Jones, Walker & Lake. P.C. in 2013 and now concentrates in real estate law, addressing any of the array of issues that arise in connection with real estate transactions.

The firm’s business manager for 33 years, Ruth Johnson is now retired but served as trouble shooter, accountant, computer hardware and software guru, social affairs director, ultimate stress manager and all around go to problem solver. Fortunately, she still visits the firm from time to time sharing her lively warmth and enthusiasm.
